Dr Sparrow is back, coping with more bizarre, macabre and hilarious situations. Following his successful debut with "Country Doctor: Hilarious True Stories from a Country Practice", Dr Sparrow once more guides us through the daily rounds of the weird and wonderful in his practice on the Devon/Cornwall border.

When the phone rings in the middle of the night, Dr Arthur Jackson leaves the warmth of his bed without hesitation. Tending to his peculiar flock of patients - including a blind cobbler with a surprising taste for hard liquor, a young woman with an unusual phobia and an accident prone butcher.   This book is about a young english doctor who goes to Scotland to practice medicine in the s. It reminds me a lot of the All Creatures Great and Small series by James Heriot, but Heriot is better at spinning tales. Dr Smith's stories read more like a memoir. It was a very sweet book.4/5(26).

I do like stories about the real life and the careers or jobs people follow so when i saw this was about a country practice i expected great stories of farmers and country folk but straight off the book didnt give an idea when it was set unless i missed it.

there was not much introduction about family and if you want a book about poultry keeping this would be for you or a book about the trials 4/5.
